Cleaning your watch

Different materials on your watch require slightly different care. A consistent routine keeps everything in good condition without effort.

Stainless steel case and bracelet

  • Wipe regularly with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and dust.
  • For a deeper clean, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then dry thoroughly.
  • Avoid abrasive cloths, they can leave fine scratches on the case surface.

Gold-plated models

  • Use a soft, dry cloth only. Avoid damp cloths and harsh chemicals.
  • Repeated water contact and chemical residue are the main causes of plating wear over time.
  • Apply perfume and lotions before putting the watch on, and let them dry first.

Leather strap

  • Wipe gently with a dry cloth only. Never rinse under water.
  • Water weakens the structure of the leather and can cause it to crack or lose its shape.
  • Store in a dry place, humidity shortens the lifespan of the strap significantly.

Sapphire crystal

  • Clean with a microfiber cloth, it removes smudges without risk.
  • Sapphire is highly scratch-resistant in daily use, but avoid strong impacts. A hard knock against a surface can chip or crack the crystal.

Water resistance

Dicci watches are rated for daily water contact, not for diving or high-pressure water exposure. Always check your model's rating before submerging it.

3 ATM

  • Safe for splashes, rain, and hand washing.
  • Not suitable for swimming or showering.

5 ATM

  • Suitable for everyday water contact and light swimming.
  • Not intended for high-pressure water exposure or diving.
Leather strap models: keep the strap away from water regardless of the case rating. Water resistance applies to the case, not the strap. Even brief repeated exposure will degrade the leather over time.

Over time: even on water-resistant models, seals can dry out. If you regularly expose your watch to water, have the water resistance checked at your next service.

Chemicals and sunlight

  • Perfumes, colognes, and cosmetics: apply before putting the watch on and let them dry completely. Chemical residue degrades plating and can dry out leather straps.
  • Cleaning products: keep your watch away from household chemicals, they can affect the case finish and strap materials.
  • Direct sunlight and heat: avoid prolonged exposure. Heat shortens the battery life of quartz movements over time.

Magnets

Keep your watch away from strong magnetic sources, speakers, electronic devices, and magnetic clasps are the most common. Magnetic fields can interfere with the quartz movement and cause it to lose accuracy.

If this happens, a certified watchmaker can demagnetise the watch quickly and restore normal function.

Servicing

The Japanese Quartz MIYOTA movement is designed for reliability and low maintenance, one of the reasons we chose it. Unlike mechanical movements, it doesn't require frequent servicing.

  • Plan for a professional service every 3 to 4 years.
  • A watchmaker will inspect the movement, replace the battery, and check the water resistance seals.
  • Regular servicing keeps the watch accurate and extends its lifespan considerably.
  • Never attempt to open the case yourself, doing so exposes the movement to dust and moisture.

Storage

  • Store in the original box when not in use, it protects against dust, scratches, and accidental impact.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
  • For leather strap models, a dry environment is especially important, avoid storing in bathrooms or areas with humidity.
