How to Measure Your Finger Size

You can measure your finger using everyday items. Here are three simple methods:

Paper or string method:

  1. Take a thin strip of paper or a piece of string.
  2. Wrap it around the middle of your finger, over the bone, where the ring will sit.
  3. Mark the point where the ends meet.
  4. Lay the paper or string flat and measure it with a ruler.

The measurement you get corresponds to the circumference of your finger, which you can then compare with the ring size chart.

Method using a ring you already have:

If you already own a ring that fits comfortably, this is one of the most reliable ways to find your size:

  1. Place the ring on a ruler.

  2. Measure the inner diameter, the distance across the inside of the ring.

  3. Compare this measurement with the ring size chart.

Make sure the ring measured fits comfortably over the widest part of your finger (over the knuckle).

Measuring tape method:

This method is similar to the string method but can be even easier.

  1. Use a sewing measuring tape;
  2. Wrap it around the finger where you will wear the ring;
  3. Read the measurement at the point where the tape meets;

The value corresponds to the circunference of the finger, which you can then compare with the size chart.

To obtain a more accurate result, follow these recomendations:

  • Measure your finger at the end of the day, when it is slightly more swollen;
  • Do not tighten the string, paper, or measuring tape too much;
  • Measure two or three times to confirm the measurement;
  • If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one for greater comfort.

Circumference and diameter: what's the difference?

Circumference:

It is the total length around the finger. When you use a string or measuring tape to measure your finger, you are measuring the circumference.

Inner diameter of the ring:

It is the measurement of the inside of the ring from one side to the other, passing throughthe center. This measurement is used when you have a ring that already fits you and want to find the corresponding size.
