Men have worn necklaces for thousands of years. However, the term "men's jewelry" has a stigma attached to it due to the limited offerings on the market. Throughout history and across different cultures, what can and cannot be used by men has varied and still varies a lot. Nevertheless, if anything, history has shown us that wearing jewelry as men is something very normal. A piece of jewelry can show your personality, its much more than a simple accessory.

The size

The size of the necklace greatly influences the final look, especially with the type of t-shirt/shirt you will be wearing. Most of Dicci's necklaces offer the possibility to customize the size, from 45 cm to 70 cm.

  • 45 cm - some may consider this size a chocker. Necklaces with this size are visible above the t-shirt.
  • 50 cm - This is the most common size for men's necklaces. The chains are at the level of the collarbone, falling over the first and second button of a shirt.
  • 55 cm- The chain stays below the collarbone and can be worn outside or inside the shirt. It is most common for pendant necklaces to be worn at this size.
  • 60 cm- They are right in the middle of the chest, perfect for those who want to wear a necklace with a pendant that stands out.
  • 65-70 cm - Usually the largest size used in men's necklaces. Worn on the outside of the shirt with or without a pendant.

The Types of Necklaces

1. Chain Necklaces:
The most popular type of necklace among men. There are countless variations and styles of chain necklaces to choose from.

    2. Pendant Necklaces:
Long chains are good for pendants, but they often hide under your shirt. To display them, you will need a V-neck or some open buttons. Or you can simply wear the necklace on the outside of your shirt.

    3. Religious Necklaces:
Our religious and spiritual necklaces include a wide variety of symbols, from medals of saints, lucky symbols like the hamsa, to, of course, the cross.

    4. Beaded Necklaces:
The use of beads made from different natural stones and materials also jave different meanings and symbolism. Most of the meanings associated with stones are positive and have good implications. Beads generally symbolize positive things including protection, unity, growth, good luck, etc.

    The Layering

When it comes to layering necklaces, there aren't many rules. Of course, you need to consider factors such as thicknesses, materials and colors. Balance is the key word. If the necklaces have different thicknesses and materials, it is best to go for similar shades. If, on the other hand, different colors are the main element, thinner and similar chains are ideal. To combine several pendants, consider the style of each pendant. The best way is to place small pendants with different necklace lengths, because it is both in style and safe.
